Drew Austin is an interdisciplinary Denver-based artist exploring connections between the natural world and the art world. He relies heavily on abstraction and plays with surface, material, and conceptual ambiguity. He curates exhibitions for Re:Creative Denver. Drew earned a BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.

A conceptual and fine art photographer, Denver-based Olivia Baker creates her images from staged scenes to highlight emotion and identity. She earned a BFA in Photography from New Mexico State University.

Katy Batsel is a fiber artist living in Denver, Colorado. She explores both the subject matter and process of craft and DIY in her work. She has a B.A. from the University of Georgia in Sociology and Women's Studies. 

With dual histories as an artist and furniture maker, Boulder, CO artist Michael Beitz uses furniture as a subject to address the intricacies of social interaction, personal relationships, and self-investigation. He holds a BFA from Alfred University and an MFA from the University of Buffalo.

Denver artist Phil Bender uses the matrix as a structuring and organizing principle of his found object assemblages. His work calls attention to discarded and forgotten objects by asking viewers to re-examine the mundane, the ubiquitous, and the common. Phil graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver and is a founding member of Pirate: Contemporary Art, Denver’s longest-running co-op gallery.

Broomfield artist Lauren Berley practices both photography and mixed media. She explores themes of rank, status, and self-definition and often integrates vintage toys or childhood emblems in her work. She’s worked as a photographer since her early twenties, working in Hollywood, Las Vegas, and New York, and took up painting and drawing in 2013.

Boulder artist Jessica Moon Bernstein responds to the effects of globalization on the natural environment and ethnic cultures. Much of her material comes from mundane, disposable products like inner tubes, tires, and plastic bags. She earned her BFA and MA at the University of Colorado Boulder and studied at the Instituto Internacional in Madrid, Spain.

Chloé Besson’s cyanotypes combine images from her photographic practice with original, poetic text. She received her BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder and has exhibited in New York, Chicago, and the South Pacific.

Interdisciplinary artist Sarah Bowling lives and works in Denver, CO. Through her art, she explores the constructs of desire: expectations of sexuality, the power dynamics of intimacy, and vulnerability within relationships and the self. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Denver artist Katie Caron explores fantasy, technology, the environment, and contemporary society in her mixed media works, sculptures, and installations. She holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University and an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Southern California artist Marie Perrin-McGraw is inspired by the philosophy of the Arts and Crafts movement: fair wages, local production, ecological awareness, and independent business. She works as the lead ceramicist and painter at Lustered Walnut. She earned an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Boulder printmaker Sam Cikauskas explores the intersection between the environment and civilization, specifically through agriculture and gardening, in his practice. He earned his BFA from Northern Illinois University and his MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder. He serves as director of printmaking at Flatiron Press.

Denver artist David Clay Bridges explores the overlap of sonic and visual sensory experience. He works to visualize sound and create sound-producing visual objects and interactive instruments. He earned a BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Arvada-based artist Mark Bueno uses an array of mediums and techniques such as spray paint, masking tape, stencils, wood inlay, collage, and assemblage. His style ranges from geometric abstraction to pop art. He earned a BFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Denver writer, stop-motion animator, and artist Tony Clavelli. He likes comic books, hand-claps in music, the Chicago Cubs, and most surprises. He graduated from West Virginia University with an MFA in fiction.

Denver artist Michael Dowling uses elements of classical style and technique combined with contemporary colors, icons, and shapes. His subjects showcase his signature expressive, gestural, haunting, and humorous style. He studied at Florence, Italy’s Il Instituto de Art, Scuola Lorenzo de Medici.

Denver artist Jessye Ebbinghouse’s current practice stems from a previous series of photographed tangled ribbons as well as her dreams of snakes and water. Her water slide paintings are based on actual Google Earth images from Denver’s Water World. The slides simultaneously embody levity and joy but also abandonment of control. She graduated with a BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. She grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia driving a golf cart.

Cory Feder is an animator, comics illustrator, sculptor, tattoo artist, and musician. She earned a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Denver artist and filmmaker Lares Feliciano believes in the power of stories to connect us and incite change. Her mixed media collage works and Polaroid photographs have a vintage aesthetic. She earned an MFA from San Francisco State University and a BA from Smith College.

Boulder photographer Brian Fouhy enjoys a good word. Since 2010 he’s been collecting words found during his travels and wanderings. He holds a BFA in Advertising Design from Syracuse University and studied how to pursue and make ideas real at Boulder Digital Works.

Denver artist Sarah Fukami explores identity and history, particularly in relation to the immigrant experience. The internment of her Japanese-American family during World War II piqued her interest in issues surrounding ethnicity, nationality, and citizenship. She earned a BFA from the University of Denver.

Fort Collins artist Katie Gabriel works in small-scale formats blending a number of mediums to create scenes extracted from old family photos. Music, skateboarding, fashion, and photography have been lasting influences on her work. She earned her BFA from University of Texas and received an MFA from Colorado State University.

Denver artist and installer Nash Garton grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He’s lived and worked in Denver as a professional art framer and installer since 2012. He earned a BA in Art Conservation from the University of Delaware.

Boulder artist Dylan Gebbia-Richards creates his unique works by building up layer after layer of brightly colored wax and resin. The finished works simultaneously evoke the textures of coral reefs, snow drifts, mountain ranges, lava flows, crystal formations, rock candy, and snow cones. He received a BFA in Painting and BA in Art History from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Denver artist Jennifer Ghormley works in a variety of media including installation, textiles, printmaking, illustration, and photography. Her work explores the human body and as well as humanity’s relationship to nature. She earned her BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver and her MFA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Denver artist Jason Gimbel is known for his abstracted, expressionistic figurative paintings. His instinctual approach, unusual color palettes, and lines complicate the boundaries between figure and background. Jason graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Stephanie Kantor explores the paradoxical aspects of culture in her work. Inspired by family heirlooms, idiosyncratic collections, and her childhood landscape, she utilizes ornamentation and decoration to subvert and undermine reality and artifice. Stephanie earned her BFA in Ceramics from Penn State University and her MFA in Ceramics from University of Colorado Boulder.

Denver artist Conor King works in photography, video, and sculpture. His work explores natural and artificial environments and creatures in addition to portraiture and abstraction. He earned his BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his MFA from Pratt Institute.

Self-described “mountain coast” artist Noah Larsen creates his marker illustrations through stream-of-consciousness drawing. His graphic works feature cartoonish characters and scenes from his imagination. He lives and works in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Denver artist Marsha Mack focuses her practice on social dynamics and subjective experience. Her process-oriented, richly textured, and saccharine works address notions of affect, beauty, sexuality, and the body. Marsha holds a BFA from San Francisco State University and an MFA and Certificate of Advanced Study in Women’s and gender Studies from Syracuse University.

Denver artist Kelly Monico re-contextualizes aspects of the everyday experience in her work. She explores notions of identity, objectivity, and modes of representation and often draws upon the use of recording, documentation, and patterning as a means to investigate and better understand human behavior. Kelly most recently installed Alley Cats in Larimer Square as part of Denver Theatre District’s Happy City. She earned her MFA from the University of Denver and teaches at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Denver artist Siera Montoya Barela combines painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking, and embroidery in her art practice to explore the figure. She juxtaposes elements of art history, pop culture, and interiors in her work. She earned her BFA in painting from the Rhose Island School of Design.

Denver artist Dominic Muttel works by day as a UI/UX designer and half-stack developer. He has shown work at Pirate: Contemporary Art and worked with Denver Digerati on Supernova, an outdoor festival of digital animation and art.

Eaton artist Ashley Nason explores the evolution of the environment as a result of overconsumption, pollution, and the misuse of natural resources. She works in printmaking, collage, and drawing. Ashley received her MFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Former toy inventor turned sculptor Sean O’Meallie creates hand-carved painted wood artworks brimming with humor and intelligence that are noted for their tactile allure and multilayered, often subversive content. He says of his practice, “I make objects. They disappear. I make ore objects.” His public art sculptures can be seen throughout Colorado. He studied art at the University of New Orleans, where he’s from. He lives and works in Colorado Springs.

Boulder artist Amy Odorizzi works in a variety of media including printmaking, photography, and drawing. She earned her BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Boulder ceramicist Anne Pendergrast creates under the moniker Mud Whimsy Ceramics. She creates whatever inspires her in the moment: air plant homes, little creatures, intricately carved mugs, and functional dishes. She earned a BFA in 2004 with an emphasis in ceramics.

Denver artist George P. Perez investigates the banality of everyday in his interdisciplinary work with a foundation in photography. He often uses found photographs, including those of his childhood, as the materials in his art. George earned a BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Longmont artist Heather Pfeifer creates functional ceramics under Mountain Daisy Studio. She received a BFA in ARt Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She teaches at Tinker Art Studio in Boulder.

Denver artist Bruce Price earned his BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art and his MFA from Maine College of Art. His mirrored digital collages that literally and metaphorically turn the male gaze, sexuality, and subjectivity on its head.

Denver photographer Heather S. Pridemore explores sexuality and relationships in her art practice. She earned an undergraduate degree from South Florida University and a graduate degree from Ryerson University. She also performs burlesque.

Denver artist Jonathan Saiz explores big nature, mysticism, rituals, crystals, and pop culture in his diverse artistic practice. He is one of the creators of The Fountain Tarot, a contemporary re-imaging of the Tarot Deck connecting geometry, internet culture, art, and spirituality. He studied at Parsons School of Design in both New York and Paris and at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore.

Denver artist Meagen Svendsen explores tensions between nature and society in her practice that utilizes ceramic, found natural materials, and auditory field recordings. Inspired by biology, ecology, and neuorscience, she instills her viewers with a broader sensory experience. Svendsen earned a BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her MH from the University of Colorado, Denver. Meagen will be playing the UMS with her band Avifauna.

Denver artist Leah Swenson explores landscapes in their myriad forms: emotional, psychological, geographical, and physical. She often uses collage as a medium and technique in addition to photography, encaustic, and carbon. She earned a BFA from Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.

Denver artist Frankie Toan works mostly with craft and DIY materials to explore the complexities of touch, connection, and embodiment. Frankie holds a BFA in Craft/Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies.

Fort Collins-based artist Cyane Tornatzky uses hyrbidized methods to create two-dimensional and time-based work. She focuses on discovering and illuminating both the positive and negative aspects of the digital experience. She holds a BA from the College of Wooster and an MA and MFA from San Francisco State University.

Denver artist Kaitlyn Tucek is known for her boldly textured, brightly colored abstract paintings and mixed media works that viscerally meld the organic and linear. Kailtyn earned a BA from Pratt Institute and an MA from CUNY Queens College.

Denver artist Matt Tripodi creates screen prints and paintings that meld the graphic and emotive. He does freelance graphic design and photo editing in addition to his own creative work. He earned his degree from Western Kentucky University.

Denver artist Rebecca Vaughan works in sculpture, installation, and performance and often uses gender-specific elements such as hand-knitting and needlework techniques in her practice. She investigates ideas of power, desire, relationships, and gender in her work. Rebecca received her MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder and her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Denver artist Katie Vuletich juxtaposes text and images to re-contextualize banal, often discarded elements of everyday life. She uses found objects in her mixed media works to create dialogue and visual interest. Katie earned her BFA from Regis University.

We Were Wild is the joint project of Denver artists Meredith Feniak and Risa Friedman. We Were Wild creates interactive, hybrid fantasy worlds of real-life urban spaces using a collage of original photography, fabric, botanical images, and historical photos. Meredith experiments with both ancient and modern artistic techniques and materials. Her experience as a botanical artist and illustrator injects flora and fauna into We Were Wild’s installations. Risa is a photographer and paper artist. She explores the built environment through a focus on architectural detail and blocks of color. Both artists have degrees in sociology which fuel their fascination with the evolving city and the interactive elements of their work. 

Denver artist Peter Yumi practices collage, graphic design, music, and videography. His Culture Vulture series appropriates imagery from art history (Renaissance portraits) to pop culture (Squirt soda logo.) Yumi attended Vermont College, earning a BFA in media studies, before obtaining an MFA at Mass Art Boston.

Denver artist Tony Zellaha creates abstract and fantastical worlds in his signature style. He’s created several large-scale murals in the Denver metro area including as part of the Colfax Business Improvement District and Creative Neighborhoods in Boulder.

Denver artist Mario Zoots uses classic film stills, vintage postcards, found photographs, and other detritus to create collages and mixed-media works simultaneously nostalgic yet uncanny and absurd. Mario received his BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver and his MFA from the University of Denver.
